Ask about your situation
There's no wrong way to describe what's going on, and you don't need exact numbers to reach out.
Free help first
- A free session with an NFCC-affiliated (National Foundation for Credit Counseling) nonprofit credit counselor, who can review your whole situation and explain a debt management plan without a settlement company's fee.
- The snowball or avalanche method, paying down what you owe yourself with money you already have — no fees, no credit damage if you keep making minimum payments on every account.
- Negotiating directly with your own creditors for a lower lump-sum payoff or a hardship plan, which costs nothing but your time and often gets a similar result to a paid negotiator.
- The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (consumerfinance.gov) publishes free, plain-English guidance on debt collection, debt relief options and how to file a complaint if something feels wrong.
Step 1
You send a short message
A few lines about what's happening is enough — you don't need to prepare anything in advance.
Step 2
We point you toward the right resource
That might be a free nonprofit counselor, a specific guide on this site, or a relevant calculator, depending on what you describe.
Step 3
You decide what happens next
Nothing is signed up or enrolled on your behalf — the next step, paid or free, is always yours to choose.
We do not publish an email address, so this form is the fastest route to a person. We cannot answer questions about your personal financial situation or tell you whether you qualify for anything.
